Musical Theater Triple Threat Classes and Performance Opportunities!

Triple Threat Classes, Workshops and Performance Opportunities

Picture
(AGES 11 and UP) These musical theater classes, for ages 11 and up will be held at the Amanda's Dance Center studio in the sunshine park mall. This will be a great opportunity to get additional training in all 3 areas, Acting for audition help and character development. Voice to help with big musical numbers, and great signing techniques to help land those leading roles, and Dance; getting you moving comfortably onstage, while also concentrating on the acting and singing.

The cost is as follows: The class will be on Fridays from 5:30-7:30 beginning Friday September 3rd for $60 per month (4wks) or $160 for 12 wk session. Those that enroll in this workshop for the 12 weeks will receive a very substantial discount on workshop fees, if cast in the musical 13.

Mr. David will be teaching the acting, (and will have a special guest instructor,  Natalie Plaza from the comedy/improvisation troupe "Random Acts of Insanity" as well), Miss Amanda will be choreographing (with special guest artist Shannon Johnson) and Mykaela Teeter will be teaching the vocal classes.

We will be using some music/dance/characters from the Musical 13, so this is a great way to get a head start on what will be our Spring Musical Production.

The musical 13 will be a separate workshop and production. We will hold auditions for the 13 cast members. Those cast will be enrolled in the workshop which will include all rehearsals and performances. I will not know the entire cost of this workshop until the venue details, including rights and royalties are settled. The rehearsal schedule will be Friday evenings and most likely begin in January. The last week of rehearsals will be all day (camp-type rehearsals) March 14-18 with performances on March 19  --these dates are still tentative.

Picture
(AGES 7-10) Disney has asked Center Stage Theatricals to produce a pilot production of Disney's Winnie The Pooh Kids (a 30-45 minute one act musical that is being developed for release next year.)

We are looking at the possibility of holding this workshop the same time as the one for the 11 and up kids starting September 3rd; The class will be from 5:30-7:30 on Fridays for $160 for the 12 wk session.

We would have auditions and cast the show (everyone registered will get a part) and are planning the Premiere Performance for the first weekend in December. We need a cast of 25 for this show! The amazing part of this, is that WE will be shaping and helping develop the script that Disney and Music Theater International will publish! It's like making Theater History! These plans are still tentative, as we are awaiting final approval for our dates and venue.

About Center Stage Kids Daytona Beach Summer Camp

Center Stage Theatricals, was formed as an LLC this past summer of 2008. It stemmed from the Volusia County Community Schools' Summer Musical Theater Camp for Children. Under the Community Schools, the program existed for nearly 10 years. Due to the recent school board budget cuts, the Community Schools program was dissolved, as were many of the programs that fell under it's umbrella. Knowing the importance of performing arts programs for youth, and seeing these programs cut from the public schools; Center Stage Theatricals; featuring Center Stage Kids (children from New Smyrna Beach, Deland, Deltona, Port Orange, Daytona Beach, Holly Hill, Ponce Inlet, and Ormond Beach, FL) was created to pick up where the Community Schools' Summer Musical Theater Camp left off. Center Stage began it’s inaugural season in the summer of 2008, with an enrollment of 98 students and productions of Grease and Disney's Mulan to sold out audiences.  In November, of 2009, Center Stage Theatricals’ pilot production of Disney’s Aladdin KIDS raised over $1000.00 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.   The production was a world premiere and was used as the basis for the official script published and released by Disney and Music Theater International.  (Photos of the Center Stage Kids' production are prominently featured on the pages of the new script, which will be available world-wide!)  The following summer brought Disney's High School Musical 2 Jr. and Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr. to the stage!

As a small, independent theatrical organization, Center Stage Theatricals is one of the very few in the county that receives no outside sources of income from the city, county, schools, etc., but retains the simple goal: to bring unique theatrical opportunities to as many to children and families as possible, to promote the power and benefits of the performing arts, and to be an asset to the community.  In fact, the Center Stage Theatricals’ production of Disney’s Aladdin KIDS raised over $1500.00 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Cypress Creek Elementary School.

Offering classes in acting, singing, dancing and more!!!

Musical Theater Summer Camp

Center Stage Kids, is an intensive 3-week educationally based summer camp that teaches kids the many details involved in putting together a professional musical production. The camp is perfect for beginners, stage veterans, and those in between! The camp focuses on building character, honing theatrical skills, enhancing self-esteem, and forming new friendships through acting, dancing, music, stage-craft, and a shared love of the theater. Center Stage Theatricals takes great pride in the fact that we produce shows and give opportunities that the kids cannot get with other performing arts groups in the area.
